Email Services

We provide premium email services both as a standalone service and bundled with webhosting packages. sgHosting email customers take advantage of proven industry technologies, secure connection methods, spam filtration and have a variety of additional configuration options.

Email is an essential part of an organization's online presence, and having employee email addresses addressed under your domain name will convey a measure of professionalism that a hotmail or gmail address cannot.

Webmail

We provide a variety of high quality, secure webmail solutions for all our email customers. Customers can browse to either webmail.yourdomain.tld for convenience or click the webmail link at the top of the sgHosting site for secure webmail.

Each individual email user may select their preferred webmail program. We recommend the RoundCube program. The following webmail programs are available (click the links below for more information on each):

Using our cPanel administrative interface, you may setup new emails and passwords, and configure them.

Mail Clients

Our mail servers support POP3, IMAP and SMTP protocols, the industry standards for email. As an sgHosting you'll use the following settings for your mail programs:

** Certificate Warning: You will receive a warning message indicating a server certificate mismatch when you set up a secure mail connection. This is because the certificate will have the name *.websitewelcome.com instead of your domain name. This is expected, and you will have to accept security exception in order to complete your mail configuration.

These settings support most modern email programs, including MacMail, Outlook, Outlook Expresss, Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird and a variety of other. The above information on setting up a connection is available when logged into webmail for your preferred mail client program.

Spam Control

sgHosting customers are provided with high quality spam filtration for each email address under their domain. The Spam Assassin program allows users to configure how strict their filter settings are, and to manage blacklists and whitelists of trusted email senders. Spam Assassin is configured through the cPanel administrative interface that is provided to each of our webhosting and email customers.

Customers requiring more comprehensive spam control may take advantage of the Box Trapper application. When using Box Trapper, a sender's message is held in queue while a confirmation message is sent to them from our mail servers. If the sender does not confirm their identity by responding to the confirmation message, the original message is discarded. Although this is a very restrictive delivery method, it usually eliminates spam entirely.

Additional Services

We also provide a variety of other services to our email customers, including mailing lists (using the Mailman program - see www.gnu.org/software/mailman), mail forwarding for both individual mailboxes and entire domains, auto-responders and more. All of these options may be configured through our cPanel administrative interface.
